Surprise Its You!: Random visitors' book
Overview
This art work evokes a question regards the ethics on current web-based services' data collection method and consumers' behavior, such as asking for cookies, terms of service agreement. Not that surprisingly, a survey by Deloitte showed that "over 90% of consumers accept legal terms and conditions without reading them." For example, Apple's service of terms and conditions are over 7900 words (26 pages in letter size paper).
Did you know that by agreeing to use the Apple's services, you are also agreeing "that you will not use these products for any purposes prohibited by United States law, including, without limitation, the development, design, manufacture, or production of nuclear, missile, or chemical or biological weapons"?
This work was done for the class, Data-driven Art, in Spring 2021, taught by Prof. Zach Lieberman.
